Held on a Friday evening in the romantic grounds of Lord Byron’s historic stately home, our much-loved 5km race offers a truly memorable setting.

 

The course begins with a fast 1km descent towards the abbey and lake, followed by a short, shady incline and a steady stretch out to the turning point near Newstead village. Runners then return past the lake to finish on the green directly in front of the abbey.

The provisional date for the 2026 race is Friday 24th July. This will be confirmed in spring 2026, when full entry details will also be released.

Prizes are awarded for overall and category positions, and we keep entry fees as low as possible to ensure the event remains accessible to both elite and recreational runners.
