What do we offer to our members?

We are based at Redhill Young People's Centre, next to Redhill Leisure Centre so we have access to the leisure centre for changing, lockers and showers. Club nights are Monday and Wednesday - we meet at  6 p.m. to run for 6.10 p.m. You can find details of the weekly runs on our Facebook page.

The club is very diverse, with people of all ages and abilities participating in the club runs and events. We have members that are very competitive and have represented their country and county, but we also have people who just want companionship and wish to run with friends. All members are equally important to us and Redhill has a committee that meets monthly to ensure smooth running of the club. Committee members are listed on our website but can usually be caught at the club or can be contacted via contact@redhillroadrunners.com or through Facebook and we welcome feedback and suggestions from all member of the club.

Our Facebook and Instagram pages are regularly maintained and information is shared here about club runs, races and/or social events that the club is participating in and is a great source of information and advice from our hundreds of very experienced runners.

Club Membership Fees

There is an annual fee to become a member of Redhill Road Runners, which is payable each year on 1st January. There is no charge on club nights and the coach-led runs are part of your membership. Details of Membership Fees for renewals and new joiners can be found here.

England Athletics Registration

Since 2007, all Running and Athletics Clubs have been governed by England Athletics. We register all our members with England Athletics, who will then distribute England Athletics Competition Licenses to individuals. This license confirms your eligibility to compete in events in all disciplines held under UKA Rules for Competition. Each individual is allocated a registration number which is shown on the card, which you may be asked to provide on race entry forms.

Kit

Be proud to wear your club colours! Note that club vests or tops MUST be worn when participating in races - this is part of the UKA Rules for Competition. Other Redhill branded kit is available and can be purchased from the Kit Secretary. Please see our Club Kit page for more details and to arrange any purchases.

Why should you join our running club?

Road Running - There are an extensive list of races of varying distances, covering various terrains (road, trail, fell, track) throughout the year.

  • The Road Race Summer League - A series of five to six mile races held monthly on a Wednesday evening (during April to August). Entry is only open to clubs affiliated to the Notts AAA www.nottsaaa.org. A vast range of ability spans the field which numbers over 400. As a member of Redhill Road Runners, your entry to these races is free - although you must wear your club vest! Friendly rivalry exists between all clubs, not to be missed - the Summer League is the highlight of the Redhill year!

  • Team Events & Relays - Events run throughout the year which include the Christmas relays, as well as numerous County, Midland & National based competitions.

  • Cross-Country - Run during the winter months, the club participates in the North Midlands League and the East Midlands League (entertaining courses). There is no cost to enter but again, you must wear your club vest. More information about Cross-Country can be found here.

  • The RRR Grand Prix - We run an internal club men’s & ladies competition where members pick up points for running at the nominated races selected during the year. Awards are presented each year.

  • The RRR Fell Race Series - This is a club competition based on accessible fell races in the Peak District. As with the Grand Prix, the more you do, the more points you get and the more likely you are to win an award.

  • Multi-Sport Activities - A number of members participate in duathlon, triathlon, orienteering & other multi sport/adventure endurance events.

The London Marathon

As an affiliated club we receive a small number of entry places for the marathon each year. Places are presently given to those that meet the criteria stated on the Grand Prix page.

And if all that wasn't enough reason to come and join Redhill Road Runners, the club offers coach-led runs twice a week and an abundance or moral support.

Motivation

As mentioned before, the club is very diverse in its ability range and in people’s outlook to the sport. We find that some people settle really quickly when they join, whilst others take a while to feel part of the club. We feel that it's important to initially settle new members into the right running group, even if it is one that in hindsight, may be too slow for them. There is nothing worse than putting you with a group that is too quick, or runs too far so that you come back “in pieces” or even injured. Please tell us if we don’t get it initially right. Once you have settled in, you will find a group who runs at your ability and you will find you become motivated by interacting with other runners who will share you goals. As you progress there is the opportunity to move up to the next group if you wish or to continue to improve with your initial group.

Companionship

We always prefer our members to run in groups. Besides being safer, people within the group will offer encouragement. Time also passes more quickly as you run and chat. You will find that groups often run together at weekends as well as on club nights, and people are always willing to share lifts to races. People who work shifts also tend to run at other times together to fit in with their work patterns so use our Facebook group to arrange social runs outside of club.

Fitness

Running with a club will help to bring structure and routine your running schedule. Going for a run and coming along to club nights will become part of your way of life and your fitness will steadily improve as you progress. Let us help you make a great habit stick.

Coaching & Guidance

The club has invested a lot in coaching over the last few years. We now have England Athletics LiRF qualified Run Leaders for all groups, from new to experienced runners. All Run Leaders are more than willing and happy to offer advice and a suggested running schedule to meet your personal needs.

So come and join us for a trial club run!

Please note that unfortunately, we can't allow anyone under 18 years of age to join our running club.
